Goro
The city derived its name from the old branch of the Po di Goro called Gaurus, where the town was founded in the 16th century around a pre-existing small trading port between the mouth of the river and the sea. Its economy is based on farm and fishing products, particularly mussels and clams, and on food processing. Both the port of Goro and the nearby port of Gorino have recently seen a growth in tourism: from here numerous boats embark to discover the Po Delta environment, going down the river to that evocative point in which its waters mix with those of the sea and where the continuous struggle between sedimentation and erosion forms islands and benches brushed by the wind and the waves.
