Welcome to "A Ferrara con la Guida" guided tours!
My name is Silvia Ferretti and I have been a tour guide and tour leader specialising in Ferrara and Emilia-Romagna since 1997. I run guided tours for groups and individuals, visits to museums and art galleries, bike tours and themed tours on request. And, of course, enogastronomic tours to discover the delights of food and wine culture in Ferrara.
As a local, expert guide to the glorious past and the vibrant present of the city, I would like to show you its most characteristic places and tell you about the history and art of its monuments and squares, as well as the history, anecdotes and secrets of the Este family, covering their 300 years of government and their lasting influence on the city.
I offer guided walks through Ferrara's historic centre and tours of the Cathedral - an extraordinary combination of Gothic and Romanesque styles - the Ducal Palace, the Jewish Ghetto, charming narrow streets like the medieval Via delle Volte, with its differently shaped cobblestones, that offers an evocative glimpse into the past, and, finally, the the Este Castle, one of the last castles in Italy still surrounded by a moat of water.
