Ferrara Film Festival

Cinema and video

Ferrara Film Festival is more than a contest: it is a cultural, educational, and economic bridge from Italy to the United States, with its many films, events, and entertainment shows.

At the fourth edition of this event, 741 films from 40 Countries will be expected. It is a record, and the Festival is still going to grow, reaching international prestige. The main number of films will come from the United States, Great Britain, Germany, China, Iran and France.
The Festival will be held from March 23rd, to 31st 2019, and it will end with the “Golden Dragon Awards” ceremony, in a very rich and beautiful show.
Thanks to the partnership with Unicef Italia, a very special prize will be assigned this year: the “Young Unicef Prize”, for the same-name category which has been created specifically here in Ferrara for films dedicated to young people, trying to sensitize the media on very strong minor-themed topics.
The main categories will be two: “USA”, for the films coming from the United States, and “World” for those from all over the world; “Emilia-Romagna” for those filmed and/or produced in our Region, “Documentary World” for the documentaries, “Hollywood Effect” for the films with special effects, and a new category this year, “Fan Film”.
Many special events will be held during the Festival, and some themed ones will be organized along Via Carlo Mayr, which will become the “Cinema Avenue”, hosting performances, entertainment shows and a photo exhibition. Ferrara Film Festival is also very sensitive to social themes: a charity event will be also organized in order to raise funds for the blind and visually impaired people.

The complete programme of the event will be released on February, 2019.
