LAVORIERO

The lavoriero is historically linked to Comacchio and its Lagoons.
A system that has been gradually perfected over the centuries, it consists of a succession of intercommunicating enclosures that allow for the differentiated fishing at the stations. Initially, the walls were constructed of one or more layers of marsh cane, called arelle or grisole, arranged in a V-shape and driven into the ground supported by wooden poles.
At the point where the walls were converted, the nassa, a bottle-shaped fishing tool, was inserted, later replaced by a net of reeds, first square or circular and then arrow-shaped. The modern trap, on the other hand, has reinforced concrete walls.
