CASONE DONNABONA
The construction of the Casone Donnabona, appears to have originated before 1628. Situated on the canal of the Fosse-Foce reclamation, the state of delivery of 1843 describes it as a house distinguishable in two pots, which was also attributed the purpose of shelter and maintenance for boats.
The characteristic name seems to derive from folk tales: it is said that some women would go to the guardians of the Casone to cheer them up during the long days of work.
Casone Donnabona hosts temporary themed photographic exhibitions. The evocative setting with traditional clothes, furniture and tools evokes the atmosphere once breathed by the men of the Comacchio Lagoons.
