Autumn Cappelletto Festival: the only food festival dedicated to Ferrara’s cappelletti, the delicious stuffed pasta that has been a staple on festive tables ever since the days of the House of Este.
Among the specialities not to be missed, we recommend the classic cappelletti in capon broth or the ever-popular ‘Tris’: three generous samples of cappelletti with truffle, cream and ragù, all strictly handmade. After a tasty plate of cappelletti, we recommend the charcoal-grilled meat, cooked to order. The autumn edition of the Cappelletto Festival enriches the traditional menu of the June festival with a selection of typical dishes from the local culinary tradition.
The autumn edition of the Ferrara Cappelletti Festival enriches the traditional menu with a first course steeped in history, the ‘RICCHI E POVERI’ (an ancient Ferrara recipe born out of necessity), whilst among the main courses it adds the queen of local cuisine, the ‘Salamina da sugo’. To round off the meal on a sweet note, you can sample traditional Ferrarese desserts such as zuppa inglese, torta tenerina and torta di tagliatelle, prepared by the committee’s home cooks.
The wine list is extensive, featuring a selection of locally sourced wines from the Mattarelli winery.
The Festa del Cappelletto uses only locally sourced produce and follows a special policy of respect for the environment, in the knowledge that only by protecting it can we continue to enjoy authentic produce
Program
You can dine at the Festa del Cappelletto on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings from 7.30 pm (two sittings). On Sunday, it is open for lunch only from 12.30 pm.
The festival goes ahead whatever the weather.
