Pera dell'Emilia Romagna
Pera dell'Emilia Romagna

The area of Ferrara overlooking the Po dominates pear production both in terms of quality and quantity. The fruit has a sweet, delicate flavour, it is low in calories and it is a great source of fibers and vitamin C.

The pears from Emilia-Romagna - grown respecting the environment - can be eaten fresh, but are also used in the kitchen to prepare traditional desserts, refreshing fruit salads and savory dishes, pairing them with aged cheeses.

They include the following varieties: Abate Fetel, Cascade, Conference, Decana del Comizio, Kaiser, Max Red Bartlett, Passa Crassana and Williams.

The pear of Emilia-Romagna has been granted IGP status in 1998 and represent a symbol of high agricultural quality and regional food tradition.
