Lagosanto Strawberry

Symbol of Lagosanto, the strawberry represents one of the most renowned excellences of Ferrara's agriculture.

This sweet and fragrant fruit is appreciated not only for its irresistible flavour, but also for its many healthy properties: it is high in vitamin C, which reinforces immune defenses, and potassium, which removes toxines. It also has anti-inflammatory properties.

About 90% of Italy's strawberry plants are grown in Lagosanto, a record that proves the tradition and passion of local farmers.

Each year in May, the town celebrates this fruit with the traditional "Sagra della Fragola", an food event that brings market stalls, tasting sessions, shows and many delicious recipes, from traditional desserts to more modern creations.
