Bosco Eliceo Wines - DOC
Wine tradition in Ferrara is ancient and connected to the grape variety Uva d’Oro, whose origins date back to the Etruscan age, when the town of Spina was an important trade and culture center.
The introduction of this variety into the Comacchio lagoons dates back to 1528, when Ercole II d’Este married Renata of France, daughter of Luigi XII. The princess brought with her a grape variety known as Uva d’Oro, which found the perfect habitat in the Po Delta. The sandy dunes, the Bosco Eliceo, the vegetation and the humid environment have contributed to the creation of a unique variety of grape.
"Vini delle sabbie"
Bosco Eliceo Wines DOC – Fortana, Merlot, Bianco del Bosco and Sauvignon – are known as “vini delle sabbie” because the grapes are grown on sandy, salty soils. This peculiar condition makes the wine light, aromatic and pleasantly pungent, perfect for both fish and meat dishes.
Fortana DOC
Ruby red wine with a grape scent and dry flavour. The minumum alcohol content is 10,5°. It is the most representative wine of the area.
Merlot DOC
Intense ruby red colour that tends to lighten with age. The scent is slightly grassy and the flavour is dry and balanced. The minimum alcohol content 10,5°.
Sauvignon DOC
With its straw yellow colour, it stands out for its delicate scent and for its harmonic, dry flavour. The minimum alcohol content is 11°.
Bianco del Bosco DOC
Pale straw wine with a delicate scent and fresh, light flavour. It is perfect for fish dishes and starters from the traditional cuisine. The minimum alcohol content is 10,5°.
