The start and finish will be situated in front of the Castello Estense, the symbolic heart of the event and the focal point of the entire weekend dedicated to running and walking. From here, the route will head north along Via Borgo dei Leoni, turning left onto Corso Porta Mare and passing in front of the Palazzo dei Diamanti after less than a kilometre. The route will then continue along Corso Rossetti and Corso Porta Po. After the initial stretch through the Renaissance heart of Ferrara, the athletes will reach Porta degli Angeli and the Renaissance city walls, which will run alongside much of the race. The route will also pass through the so-called Montagnola, the Giorgio Bassani Urban Park (at km 7.5), Piazzale delle Medaglie d’Oro (km 15.9), the area beneath the walls at Porta d’Amore (km 17), and the districts of Malborghetto and Porotto. In the final stretch, the route passes through Piazza Ariostea (at km 40), marking the start of the final part of the 42K, just a few kilometres from the finish line at the Castle.
The 42K will cover the full route through the city of Este, whilst the 21K Half Marathon and the 10K Ferrara City Run will share some of the most iconic sections of the historic centre and the city walls, offering routes that are also accessible to those wishing to experience the event over shorter distances.
Registration for the Ferrara Marathon 2027, the Ferrara Half Marathon 21K and the Ferrara City Run 10K is now open on the official website:www.ferraramarathon.com
