Masterpieces of the 17th Century from the churches of Ferrara.
After the last earthquake (May 20th and 29th, 2012), many churches in Ferrara have been damaged, and almost all of them are still waiting for a re-opening.
In order to focus the attention of the culture media on this topic, Fondazione Ferrara Arte and Seminario Arcivescovile di Ferrara, along with Arcidiocesi di Ferrara-Comacchio and Musei Civici di Arte Antica di Ferrara organze the exhibition “Immagine e Persuasione”, from September, 14th, 2013 to January, 6th, 2014, in the same period of the exhibition on Zurbaràn (1598-1664) at Palazzo dei Diamanti.
“Immagine e Persuasione” is organized at Palazzo Trotti-Costabili, former. Seminary, where the beautiful frescoes by Garofalo can be seen. The masterpieces on display come from churches of Ferrara which are now closed to the public, after the recent earthquake: San Domenico, Santa Maria della Pietà, Sacre Stimmate, Santa Chiara . As far as painters are concerned, it will be possible to admire works by famous artists from the 17th Century, as Ludovico Carracci, Guercino, Carlo Bononi, Francesco Costanzo Catanio.
